The Outsider

Overview: In this unit you read the novel, The Outsiders. I worked in groups as a Reading Circle to complete different tasks for each section of the book. Your jobs included Summarizer, Literary Luminary, Word Wizard, Connection Maker, and Discussion Director. Each job focused on a different standard, or skill. At the end of the unit you took an exam, and completed two individual projects that you selected from four choices-- 1. a wanted poster for one of the characters, 2. a soundtrack of five song selections for the story, 3. a an interview with one of the characters, or 4. a book jacket with original chapter titles.
